[...] And finally, Sunday night will feature the immensely talented sound artist and electronic musician Jessica Rylan, aka Can’t, who I think is one of the foremost female avant/noise musicians of the past 10 years. We first heard of her after Cornell’s Sunburned Hand of the Man show, when Taylor told us that Jessica had built some of his gear (they’re both based in the Boston area). Rylan also owns the cassette imprint Friendship Bracelet. To continue her list of achievements, from 2005-2006 Rylan served as a Research Affiliate at MIT, at the Center for Advanced Visual Studies. (On Nov. 14, at MIT, Rylan will give a talk about “the history of microelectronics, the aesthetics of mass production, and the implications of chaos theory.”) We could go on and on.
